The Partners, Layton Tamberlin and Richard Sanders, have known each other for over 20 years, but were brought together to found Sullivan Street by a belief that there was a better approach to the ownership of small businesses.
They have both seen the benefits that professionalization and high-quality management, thought and analysis, as well as dedication and hard work, had brought to significantly larger businesses. But they had also witnessed orphaned and neglected assets caused by a failure of governance to put the business before the shareholders. And both felt there was potential for businesses to improve their corporate citizenship in line with the good stewardship and long-term approach they could bring.
Richard and Layton have learned vast amounts since founding Sullivan Street, and share an enthusiasm for constant learning and improvement, which they philosophically extend to all the companies they work with and their management teams and associates.
