Founded in 2010, the firm brings an operational focus to investing and asset management by playing a proactive role in the running of its portfolio companies. The firm has built a strong 13-year track record of delivering outsized returns and successfully scaling businesses.
As a supportive investor, we stand by our ethos of ‘good business’ by collaborating effectively with management teams and leveraging our expertise to create true value. The team is headed by long-time friends and industry veterans Layton Tamberlin and Zeina Bain, and continues to deliver quality returns to investors while seeking new deal opportunities.

Our philosophy is founded in building good businesses. We see potential in every situation we bring into the Sullivan Street portfolio by focusing on creating value for LPs and employees, as well as hands-on operational change to build good businesses. We work with each companies’ work force from associate level right up to the executive board to fully understand the business, how we can drive meaningful change, and encourage employee buy-in.
Our contrarian approach gives us a unique perspective in finding value opportunities in places other firms do not and allows access to a unique range of deal opportunities. We fully leverage low market saturation among complex situations, portfolio diversification for LPs, and macroeconomic impact on businesses to execute our ambitious plans for transformation.

The managing partners
Founded by two university friends who share a passion for building and scaling strong businesses, Layton Tamberlin brings his experience in private equity and operations to the forefront of all that Sullivan Street does. Zeina Bain’s longstanding career in private equity, curiosity on the operational side, and established friendship with the co-founder brought her seamlessly into the Sullivan Street fold.
Together we serve as operationally minded investors as well as investment-minded operators across our portfolio companies, complementing each other’s professional backgrounds. Our collective drive to work effectively alongside management means that operations are at the heart of everything we do—from origination and risk management to capital structuring and investment.
