UK Addiction Treatment

UKAT: Leading UK Addiction Treatment with 200+ Beds and Comprehensive Care for Substance Abuse and Mental Health.

About UKAT

UKAT is the UK’s leading residential addiction treatment group. Operating over 200 beds across eight residential facilities across the country, it specialises in comprehensive care and rehabilitation services for alcoholism, substance abuse, and wider behavioural and mental health conditions.

Sullivan Street has helped UKAT

  • Extract itself from a restrictive ownership structure.
  • Recruit key hires to complete the management team.
  • Pursue investment into ambitious growth and M&A strategies through capital provision.
The Opportunity

There is a critical need for rehabilitation services, and despite this, the UK market is still underserved and fragmented. As the market leader in residential treatment, UKAT is well-placed to drive enhanced service provision and become a household name across the broader behavioural and mental health space. Following its acquisition from its founders in 2018, UKAT has faced multiple challenges due to complex ownership issues which restricted the business from growing and reaching its full potential. Sullivan Street was well placed to navigate these complexities enabling UKAT to realise significant value creation through three key areas:

  • Operational improvements: The company aims to boost its operational capabilities across all business activities by developing better processes and systems, optimising the supply chain, improving employee satisfaction and retention, and enhancing the already exceptional care to drive market-leading patient outcomes.
  • Core expansion and consolidation: Key initiatives include organically opening new centres or acquiring other market participants to address the chronic undersupply in the market and investing in the existing estate.
  • New services: UKAT plans to expand beyond addiction treatment by accessing the broader behavioural and mental health market.
